Counsellor - Targeted Young People

We are looking for a Counsellor to deliver face to face and where appropriate virtual counselling sessions to children and young people who identify as LGBTQ+. This role involves working with children and young people recognised as requiring high level emotional well-being support. As a counsellor you will provide a safe space for CYP, hold a weekly case load, undertake assessments and include a range of evidence based interventions (this may include individual, parent & child, sibling, family and group interventions.) in your delivery. As an Eikon counsellor you will work collaboratively with the LGBTQ+ Project Team and wider organisation to ensure delivery and the successful completion of funded contracts The service is underpinned by CYP IAPT principles, and the post holder would support and assist the core aims of this in the service., Delivering services to children and young people

• Provide time-limited and clinically appropriate counselling sessions for CYP
• Build positive relationships with young people and where necessary parents and carers
• Work collaboratively with LGBTQ+ Projects Team to ensure best outcomes for young people.
• To work within the BACP, UKCP or equivalent ethical framework
• Always apply safeguarding and child protection procedures and escalate where necessary
• Keep up to date with good practice, legislation and policies that impact service delivery
Supporting with Impact, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
• Use goal based outcomes and additional monitoring and evaluation tools to monitor the effectiveness and impact of support for LGBTQ+ CYP accessing the service.
• Keep accurate records of individual engagement in a timely manner, evidence change and celebrate progress with CYP
• Provide written case studies as evidence of the effectiveness of individual interventions
Personal Development/other duties
• Work within Eikon's internal policies, safeguarding and data protection regulations
• To promote, monitor and maintain health safety and security in the working environment
• Attend and participate in team meetings and any professional training as may be identified
• Assist with the development and progression of the service by adhering to all communication requests
• Work as part of a team to lead and inspire collaboration across the organisation.
• To attend and actively participate in regular line management supervision, case reviews, and clinical supervision as discussed and agreed between yourself and line manager
• Support other members of the LGBTQ+ projects team with additional tasks where appropriate, relevant to the delivery and development of the project
• Be responsible for equipment/resources linked to service delivery

Negotiable between 18 - 22.5 hours per week across 3 days, with a need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service. Some evening and weekend working may be required.
