The Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) is part of the Defence College of Technical training (DCTT), operating from MOD Lyneham, Wiltshire.
DSEME’s mission is to train and educate electronic, mechanical and specialist tradespeople, technical leaders and engineering managers in order to meet the requirements of Defence and needs of trainees now and in the future.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Course Design Manager within DSEME Headquarters. We are seeking an innovative, motivated individual who has passion and dedication, delivering excellence whilst designing modernised, relevant training courses for the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (REME) and Royal Air Force engineering trainees.
The DSEME Course Design Dept is a mixed team consisting of MOD Civil Servants and Contractor personnel, working alongside military colleagues and other stakeholders in a tri-service training establishment.
You will have line management responsibilities and be responsible to the Head of Course Design.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week., + Collaborating with Pan-Service Requirement Setting and Joint Training Development Teams on the development of training requirements.
+ Review and acceptance of Formal Training Statements.
+ Lead and manage the design, review and maintenance of allocated courses and other Land Systems Engineering related projects.
+ Manage production & maintenance of Course Training Documentation Sets in accordance with the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) Quality Standard.
+ Engage with training staff to review, re-design and modernise REME / RAF leadership training, collaborate on the production of blended learning solutions.
+ Liaise with DSEME Examination Centre Validation Team staff and Training Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the collaborative production and continued relevancy of Assessment Strategies, Assessment Specifications and assessment methods
+ In collaboration with Learning Technologies and Media teams identify and implement opportunities for energising training and exploit delivery opportunities on a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
+ Representing DSEME Course Design at key partner meetings.
+ Civil Service line management and conducting recruiting activities.
+ Engagement with external awarding bodies to identify achievable appropriate, accredited qualifications mapped to training., o Free on-site gymnasium, Cardiovascular, Strength and conditioning outdoor sports facilities.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
