Full Job Description
We are looking to appoint a Course Director for Games Technology. This position focuses on leading our tech-based courses (notable, Games Programming, Games Design and Programming, and Games Development).
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic colleague from within the team to lead in this area. We have an impressive sector-wide reputation for our Games provision, with a large team of academics at the UKs largest Games Development department.
In addition to developing and delivering outstanding teaching and learning, you will have the opportunity to contribute towards our ambitious research, scholarship and enterprise strategies, working alongside colleagues in our Art, Design, and Technology teams as part of the institute. The department is highly interdisciplinary, covering all aspects of game development, and a unique environment to develop a distinctive academic portfolio.
In addition to your academic activities, you will be involved in recruitment initiatives, including open days and portfolio reviews. You will also contribute to community engagement, including schools, colleges and local industry. The institution works closely with the local community and has a strong civic engagement portfolio. You will also be expected to support and help us innovate our ongoing recruitment activities.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of our Course Director for Games Technology will be:
o To lead the Games Technology programmes.
o Support the sustainable growth of our Games Technology degrees.
o To promote diversity and inclusion, leading initiatives to widen access to the subject area.
o To provide leadership to a team of academics, supporting their individual development.
o To design, prepare, and deliver excellent teaching and learning and assess student work.
o To engage in individual scholarship and CPD to maintain at the forefront of disciplinary knowledge.
o To provide administration for module delivery to include attendance monitoring and module evaluation.
o To provide personal tutor support to students
o To participate in the development of innovative teaching and learning strategies.
o To lead recruitment activities.
