Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen after the upcoming retirement of the current longstanding Head Greenkeeper. The ideal candidate will be an established and committed Greenkeeper whose attributes support the club's values, as contained within the Course Policy document. They will be required to have extensive knowledge of all greenkeeping practices and sustainable turf management principles associated with the challenges of a mature parkland Golf course.
Applicants should be forward-thinking, a key communicator and be open to embracing modern techniques and technology. You will be required to showcase excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at different levels. An energetic and diligent worker that can demonstrate high levels of attention to detail is essential., Reporting to the Chair of Greens the new Course Manager will be entrusted with overseeing and leading the day-to-day maintenance of the golf course, practice area and club house surrounds. This will be an active leadership role, and you will be required to ensure that all aspects of the course and grounds maintenance are implemented in line with the course policy document. You will also be responsible for delivering and implementing team values, policies and any associated training to support the promotion of a positive workplace culture.,

  • Build, demonstrate and lead on all principles of golf course maintenance in line with the Course Policy document, ensuring high levels of presentation and attention to detail are achieved at all times for members and guests

  • Play a pivotal role in the promotion of a positive workplace environment. Managing the performance of the team by identifying their development needs and implementing core values and policies to promote the highest standards

  • Follow the agreed guidance by the club's appointed consultants and Agronomist while using your own expertise and Agronomic training throughout all areas of the course

  • Manage and provide input into the budget and resources required to maintain and improve the golf course in line with the Course Policy document

  • Provide monthly Course reports and updates to the committee and members via the agreed channels

  • Develop and demonstrate new techniques or processes to be deployed on the course for more efficient working and best practice ensuring minimal impact to members and guests

  • Identify any major course investment requirements and ensure timely scheduling into business planning is met

  • Manage, monitor, and take responsibility for all Machinery and workshop equipment being maintained and serviced in line with manufactures recommendations and Health and Safety guidelines

  • Ensure all members of staff operate machinery, tools and equipment, following all safe systems of work and associated procedures

  • Liaise and work closely with the Chair of Greens while attending scheduled Course Management & Development committee meetings

  • Recommend and assist with the clubs long and short-term course improvement plan, using your own skills, expertise and knowledge while monitoring work with third party contractors when needed

    Minimum NVQ Level 3 or 4 in horticultural & sports turf management

  • 5 years minimum experience in a Deputy or Course Manager role

  • Spraying PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates

  • Knowledge of Irrigation Systems - new training will be provided

  • Experience in drainage and course construction

  • Chainsaw license (desirable)

  • Computer literate, in particular the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint (or similar)

    Bramall Park Golf Club was founded in 1894 with the original 18-hole layout being designed by Dr Alister Mackenzie in 1921 with further modifications by James Braid in 1934. The course is a challenging 18-hole parkland golf course in the heart of Cheshire, Par 70, and 6,184 yards. It is inclusive of a large practice ground, gently undulating and challenging offering an enjoyable experience to all levels of golf. There is a planned investment towards drainage and a new automated irrigation system due in late Spring 2025. The club has the original push-up construction Greens with the installation of a modern drainage system allowing full playability throughout all seasons encouraging a very active membership.
