Full Job Description

The purpose of this role is to support students in school through unavoidable teacher absence. The role is strategic and you will be required to plan and deploy resources to cover for known absences each day, respond to unknown absences should they occur. The second part of the role is operational, being a first port of call for supervising students in lessons where teachers are absent - upholding and maintain the expectations of our school, and sharing the work that has been set with the class. This role is ideal for someone who is self-disciplined, organised and confident in finding solutions. No two days are alike and each day will have challenge, equally this role has the benefit of all school holidays. The actual salary is pro-rata as above and paid in twelve equal monthly installments.

A typical day will include:

Receive messages from absent staff and organise appropriate cover for the day. You will need to check an answer phone early morning for unplanned absence notifications and then plan cover, making calls to agencies as needed.

Organise and book supply staff when required for planned absences giving due regard to the subject needing cover. Investigate long term cover possibilities via agencies and provide advice and support to the Senior Leadership Team about vacancies.

To meet and greet supply staff and give guidance and support. Ensure they are aware of their timetable and induct them into the policy and procedures of the school.

To respond to unplanned absences during the day by covering classes yourself and where additionally necessary deploying staff with un-timetabled sessions effectively and efficiently.

To ensure that a member of the Senior Leadership Team is able to respond to unplanned absences on a daily basis by providing information to inform their judgement on a daily basis.
