Full Job Description
Shift: 4 on 4 off, 2 days followed by 2 nights (12 hours per shift) Primary purpose and function of position: These shift-based roles report to the Packaging First Line Manager ("FLM"). You will be part of a multi-skilled team who is responsible for supporting Packaging, Brewing, and Utilities departments through consistent professional delivery of effective and efficient maintenance in order to maximize equipment availability and uptime. Responsible for routine maintenance and inspection, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis/rectification on automated & PLC controlled equipment, automated packing machinery and site services (compressors, fridge and boiler plant) across all areas of the brewery. Undertake training and carry out new tasks in support of equipment optimisation, utilisation, performance and reliability in accordance with maintenance reliability measures and recommendations. Key Tasks: Responsibilities Must be willing and capable to work shifts or flexible day shift (some weekends), depending on business needs and reasonable advanced notice.
- Must own and supply basic tools to complete work required under area of expertise, specialist tools required are provided by ABInBev.
- Embrace management tools such as VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) used to drive 5S standards, plant management basic fundamentals and the like, in order to achieve brewery KPI (Key Process Indicator) targets. Key Tasks: Accountabilities Ensure compliance at all times with company safety policy, objectives and relevant statutes/requirements.
- Complete equipment lock out tag outs as required.
- Maintain and improve all aspects of work. Follow all quality procedures to ensure that the first-time quality of our products and service is guaranteed.
- Carry out planned maintenance tasks and take an active role in the running of the scheme, as well as logging downtime, faults and reporting work carried out with improvement feedback
- Carry out planned maintenance tasks in line with the Daily/Weekly Plan Attainment.
- Assist FLM in the prioritisation of work orders.
- Recommend/advise on Preventive Maintenance improvements.
- Recommend and advise on spare parts in order to achieve maximum availability of plant & equipment. Ensure adequate local engineering stock levels are maintained.
- Capable of working to SOP's/SWI's and preparing/writing same for change overs and specific tasks.
- Capable of working with computer systems for work order management including: job feedback entry, parts searching, equipment identification, review of work order history, etc...
- Ensure root cause analysis is utilized to drive first-time right maintenance actions
- Carry out emergency repairs, anticipate/prevent, diagnose and rectify problems to plant and equipment, ensuring that production targets are achieved on time, to cost and quality standards.
- Respond promptly to troubleshooting and emergency breakdown activities.
- Manage work orders for emergency work carried out and ensure that all emergency tasks are entered into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Interface with external suppliers as required.
- Where required, liaise with and support contract labour regarding engineering and safety initiatives, equipment improvements and repairs to plant & equipment.
- Actively suggest equipment improvements and support product quality and World Class initiatives. Support plant optimisation initiatives to ensure equipment reliability, and actively participate in site performance improvement projects by collecting and analysing root cause data in support of continuous improvement and associated activities.
- Follow up on innovation activities that have been implemented.
- Be proactive, constantly walk the floor, positively challenge under-performance, monitor trends and respond appropriately with an effective fix.
- Maintain work area to 5S. Ensure it meets company standards for good housekeeping practice and that it is maintained in a safe and effective condition. Ensure that maintenance work shops and peripheral engineering/satellite areas are maintained correctly.
- Be aware of all relevant team KPIs as defined through the VPO MCRS process (e.g. losses, energy, OEE etc) and understand how you can contribute to improving them.
- Actively participate in site safety and process improvement projects. Assist with capital projects as required.
- Actively participate in cross-functional activities in order to engender a culture of team working.
- Manage own working hours in accordance with shift priorities as defined by Maintenance FLM.

It is essential that you are competent in your core field as qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineers. However, it is desirable that you can demonstrate an aptitude and desire to learn in your non-core field. The ideal candidate will be multi-skilled. - Demonstrable experience working safely in a high speed manufacturing/processing environment within a maintenance department or comparable technical services team.
- Working in a World Class environment delivering proven process improvements.
- Knowledge of high speed packaging equipment and machinery as well as batch process control used in brewing systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems, steam systems (including steam traps, heat exchangers and associated controls) and compressed air plant is a plus.
- Excellent mechanical/electrical fault finding skills.
- Embrace fast paced changing environment and be able to prioritize multiple maintenance requests to ensure key breakdowns are addressed appropriately. Mechanical
- Proven mechanical fitting techniques and skills.
- Excellent understanding of pneumatic circuits, line diagrams, applications and fault finding.
- Understanding of hydraulic controls and fault finding.
- Working with and diagnosing faults with Mechanical Drive systems including; v-belts/pulley drives, chain drives, conveyor belts, gear boxes/gear sets, bearing damage and shaft wear.
- Pumps/pump sets, packing and mechanical seals.
- Understanding of control valve philosophy and valve repair for valves types such as: butterfly, double seat (Keystone, Tuchenhagen, Kieselmann, etc...), check valves, pressure relief, pressure regulating
- Competent use of machine tools - grinders, presses, lathe, etc...
- Tig welding (preferable) Electrical
- Allen-Bradley PLC's, control net and device net, Siemens S7 & S5
- PLC faultfinding and I/O faultfinding.
- Experience/knowledge of SCADA.
- Experience of electronic inverter drives and controls (Danfoss).
- Proven knowledge and understanding of general 3ph motor control circuits and fault diagnosis.
- Understanding of servo drive systems and control.
- Understand the concept of line philosophy and controls.
- Knowledge of electrical sensors and applications.
- Experience of instrumentation and PID loops.
- Competent in general electrical maintenance.
- Experience of ink jet coding (preferred)
- Knowledge of HV systems/HV safety trained (preferred)
- 17th Edition Qualified
- Experience in electrical troubleshooting and use of multimeter and megger.
- Understanding of electrical installation and one-line diagrams
- Understanding of control theory (4-20mA, profibus) an advantage
- Understanding of a range of industry standard instrumentation such as: mag flowmeters, PT100 temperature probes, pressure transmitters, conductivity transmitters, etc. Competencies: (Job related)
