Full Job Description
The Scientific Support Unit at Cleveland Police provides the forensic investigation services to the force. We are a dynamic team of specialists, providing services in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Laboratory Examination, Computer Forensics, Forensic Mobile Phone Examination and Digital Media Analysis. The CSI role is an integral part of the investigative service Cleveland Police provides to the residents of Cleveland.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CSI post in the unit. CSI is one of those roles that rarely become available, and we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has an inquisitive and analytical nature to join our dedicated and passionate team.
As a CSI you will attend a wide range of crime and other incident scenes, ranging from volume crime such as burglaries and stolen vehicles - to major and serious incidents such as murders, sexual offences and robberies. Your role will be to gather and maximise forensic evidence such as Fingerprints, DNA and trace evidence. Applicants should be aware that this role may involve work that could be described as severely distressing including attendance at Post Mortem examinations.
You will be self-motivated and able to work calmly and accurately under pressure. You should have excellent communication skills and an aptitude for problem solving with creative practical skills. Candidates should have successfully completed an appropriate crime scene examination course, such as a degree in Crime Scene Investigation (or relevant subject) or a recognised policing qualification in the subject area. Some previous experience would also be advantageous but is not essential., Disability Confident
