Full Job Description

We are looking for motivated, caring and creative Psychology Graduates to come and join our exciting and fast paced Crisis Line Service. Your role will be to provide support, advice, and guidance to people accessing the SLaM Crisis Line Service.

The service is intended to promote a least restrictive option of care to those experiencing a mental health problem, learning disability, social relationship problems or substance misuse. You will help to divert unnecessary attendance at Emergency Departments via a 24/7 telephone intervention approach. You will also work closely with the Crisis Assessment Team and other areas within the remit of the ARC Service.

The shift patterns are, 08:00hs to 16:00hs, 14:00hs to 22:00hs and 21:45hs to 08:15hs.

Main duties of the job

To provide telephone advice and help to all those that contact the crisis with apparent mental health problems.

To provide follow up care as appropriate, in liaison with other professionals as appropriate.To promote, at all times, a positive image of people with mental ill-health.

To be responsible for responding to crisis situations, where necessary seeking advice and guidance from other senior professionals. To implement prescribed strategies or interventions to manage crisis effectively and to inform relevant staff in a timely manner.

Liaison with both internal and external stakeholders including wards, community teams, social care, GP's, NHS 111 and Police. An emphasis is therefore placed on the post holder's ability to communicate in a professional manner at all times.
