Full Job Description

The service provides support to adult patients requiring complex nutrition support in a critical care setting and the clinical caseload of the post-holder will include critically unwell surgical, medical and trauma patients.

You will attend MDTs and ward rounds and input directly into the multidisciplinary care of patients, as well as working with the wider MDT to ensure high quality and equitable care for the patients.

You will be responsible for inputting into handovers and consultant-led ward rounds, to offer dietetic advice based on up to date evidence. You will undertake the nutritional assessment of critically ill patients, and devise nutritional plans including advice on oral intake and provision of enteral feeding regimes. You will be responsible for ordering parenteral nutrition as part of the wider multidisciplinary team - experience of parenteral nutrition would therefore be advantageous, however training will be provided for the successful applicant. You will input into the development and maintenance of Trust policies and guidelines and take an active role in training staff and students.
