Full Job Description

We are now recruiting for Criticality Safety Discipline Lead to join us permanently on our major projects. Purpose and Scope: The Discipline Lead is responsible for the development of core nuclear criticality modelling and assessment capability and delivery support to programmes, projects and wider Amentum UK growth aspiration. Responsibilities: As Discipline Lead you'll act in any criticality role required for project support and support programme and project criticality leads where requested, e.g. nuclear criticality assessment Assists Head of Profession in capability development and establishment and implementation of resource strategies, recruitment plans and competence.. Identify, implement, review and monitor Amentum and programme specific management and technical arrangements to support delivery. Prepare and coordinate assessment and analysis delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions. Advises Amentum leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients (intelligent Customer) on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance Assists safety case assurance though project, programme and corporate requirements Define and develop interfaces between all related functions, including engineering and projects to ensure work is delivered Supports the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees Support Amentum business development function as required

  • Ideally Degree (or equivalent education)
  • Proven experience of nuclear fire safety assessment, principally nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
  • Experience of application of codes and assessment in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment
  • Experience of managing staff and contractors.
  • Knowledge of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools
  • Solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions
  • Knowledge of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting
  • Travel will be required, for upto several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel
  • Supervisory experience, and possess good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing Good MS applications, organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work
  • Desirable:
  • Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector
  • Previous working knowledge of UK nuclear new build
  • Experience of international nuclear safety assessment Project management and project controls
  • Stakeholder management Ability to mentor and coach
  • Position will require ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting
