University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated, experienced CT trained Radiographer to lead the CT Service at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. This role will be suitable for someone who has proven experience in managing a CT service or for an experienced Radiographer looking for a new challenge.

The CT department at the RLI provides a wide range of CT imaging procedures including trauma, MSK, neurological, vascular, paediatrics and oncology. We also offer Radiographer led CTC, and cardiac imaging. The Radiology department is equipped with Sectra PACS and RIS. The CT department is equipped with three GE CT scanners. At the RLI, we have introduced a full 7 day CT service with dedicated night Radiographers to undertake trauma and emergency imaging for the Emergency Department, and also provides a service for urgent in-patient scans., o To act as the lead specialist radiographer in CTo To deputise for the lead radiographer in MR and support this service in their absence.o To manage the CT imaging department and lead a large team of specialist radiographers.o To produce high quality diagnostic investigationso To be responsible for drawing up policy and examination protocols alongside the Clinical Lead Radiologist.o To be responsible for setting up and maintaining quality assurance programso To be responsible for risk assessment and health and safety of staff and patients.o To be ultimately responsible for the technical and diagnostic quality of the examinations performed.o To organise the daily workloado To supervise and train newly qualified or inexperienced radiographers.

Suitable applicants must be patient centred, caring and professional with recent extensive CT experience, an interest in teaching, clinical governance and radiation protection, and either a Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and be registered with the HCPC.

Experience in MR is advantageous but not a requirement.

UHMB operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

The RLI is on the doorstep to the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, the Trust is set in some of the most remarkable surroundings in the UK, facilitating an abundance of outdoor activities. There are many "Good" and "Outstanding" state primary schools which feed into excellent secondary schools. There are Grammar schools which consistently rank in the top 5 in the North West as well as Lancaster University, ranked Top 10 in the Complete University Guide 2024. The M6 and rail network provide easy access to Manchester and other city centres.
