Full Job Description

The CURE Project is a comprehensive Tobacco Dependency Treatment/Support Programme for all patients that smoke and are admitted to hospital across Greater Manchester.

CURE is recognised nationally as best practice (referenced in the NHS Long Term Plan and the National Respiratory & Lung Cancer GIRFT reports) with MFT clinicians being instrumental in its developments to date.

The Programme is inspired by the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation, which is a validated and cost-effective secondary care smoking cessation model originating in Canada.

Data from Canada demonstrated that comprehensive secondary care treatment programmes for tobacco dependency deliver immediate and highly significant reductions in admission rates and mortality.

1 Part time post available (22.5 hours)

We require an enthusiastic, compassionate and self-motivated nurse, who has an interest and awareness of tobacco dependency and smoking related conditions.

The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate others. They will be able to work autonomously, and link in with other healthcare teams and professionals.

The post consists of dedicated time to clinical practice, assessing inpatients, providing behavioural support and treatments for tobacco dependency, liaising with outpatient services, health promotion and education, as well as providing advice/teaching to multidisciplinary teams across the Trust.

The candidate should be flexible and able to travel across MFT sites if required., Disability Confident
