Full Job Description

The Council is committed to providing a high quality service to its customers and aims to satisfy enquiries at first point of contact.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to join our Customer Services Team to deliver a high quality service and support the Council's vision.

You will be based in Tameside One which includes council services, Library, Customer Services, Jobcentre Plus and Citizens Advice. The role is reception based and involves greeting customers and official visitors into the building, issuing passes and assisting with a wide range of customer enquiries including directing to appropriate services in a professional manner.

You will make appointments for Customer Services and the Household Support Fund along with helping people to self-serve where appropriate and therefore good IT skills are essential. On occasion, you will be required to assist with the processing of Blue Badges and web chat for which full training will be given.

You will carry out administration duties for Customer Services and the Household Support Fund teams.

You will be working as part of a friendly team and a commitment to providing excellent customer service is essential

This role is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English in the person specification.

About You

You will have GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (grade 1-3) or ability to work towards Level 1 Functional skills alongside the apprenticeship.

Experience of working with I.T. applications

Experience of working in a customer services environment or the desire to learn about working in a customer services environment
