Full Job Description

YMCA Newark & Sherwood Activity and Community Village is looking to bring on board a Casual Cycling Coach to help develop and deliver a brand-new cycling programme. With our inclusive and accessible cycling facility, we are looking for someone who can create engaging, fun and educational programmes for children and adults to maximise our wonderful bike track. With learn to ride areas, community trail and pump track, we have something to offer no matter your age or cycling ability. We are looking for someone with a passion for cycling to create a programme of classes, events and activities for the local community to get involved with. You will deliver high quality, customer-focused coaching across all part of our cycle track. You'll coach everyone from pre-schoolers learning to ride, school children building their confident and skills leading up to experienced riders at all ages. This is a brand new role so there is scope for you to put your ideas and concepts forward as well as work closely with our existing team for help and support.

We are looking for you to have a passion for mountain biking, BMX or cycling in general; whether as a hobby or through employment, you will be able to share your expertise, techniques and a love of all things cycling! We are looking for you to be keen, willing, enthusiastic, and have a passion for working with people. Your energy and upbeat nature will make the sessions fun and engaging for them to try something new, tackle challenge and feel confident to push their own boundaries. Whether you have previous teaching experience, sports coaching or other experience of working with people, we are really interested in how you can bring this wonderful facility to life! We are looking to see that you:

  • Hold a British Cycling Coaching award (or equivalent)
  • Have a willingness to further develop coach skills through further coaching courses and CPD both internally and externally
  • Are able to work on your own initiative and as part of team
  • Can ensure all statutory requirements (e.g. Health & Safety, Safeguarding etc) are adhered to in delivering the coached
  • sessions
  • Hold a relevant First aid certificate (training can be provided)
  • Can be flexible as many of these session will be delivered at evenings and weekend shifts.
