In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the Newham Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England., The community served is multi-ethnic and culturally diverse and we welcome applicants who are skilled at working with the richness and complexity of this multicultural context.

In addition to the applicants CYP mental health expertise the post holder will be expected to contribute to CPD of the trainee education mental health practitioners (EMHPs), group supervision of junior staff, contribution to community development such as communities of practice and attendance at education forums such as SENCO and designated safeguarding leads forums. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit. We will empower the applicant to apply their skillset and special interest areas in the early intervention space to support pupils and families

We are looking for confident CAMHS professionals with experience delivering CBT based interventions who are keen to develop their skills in providing evidence based interventions to children and young people both within schools and in CAMHS clinic setting. You will have a demonstrable track record of providing collaborative and supportive interventions with children, young people, families, and parents/carers. You will have professional registration within your chosen profession, for example Nursing, Social work, Occupational Therapy Psychology, or alternative therapies, or be a CWP / EMHP with practical experience post-qualification.

We provide a wide range of community health and mental health inpatient services to children, young people, adults of working age, and older adults in The City of London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedfordshire and Luton. We also provide psychological therapy services to the London Borough of Richmond, and provide Forensic services to the whole of North East London. We provide services in urban and rural settings, sometimes in our inpatient units, but mostly in the community close to where people live. Integrated care is key in making the best use of resources and providing effective care.
