Cyp-Pt Therapies Trainee

Our service has an exciting opportunity for Recruit to Train Trainees in Systemic Family Practice to join our team as part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes (formerly CYP-IAPT). This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions working with clients in the service.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates who are enthusiastic about making a difference to children's mental health through evidence-based interventions. There are 2 post-graduate trainee posts available, working with children aged 4-11 years and their families.

You will fulfil the requirements of, attending and completing a PG Diploma at King's College London including practical, academic, and practice-based assessments, alongside private study, and also have a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions working with clients in the service making a direct impact in the lives of children, young people and their families.,

• Fulfilling the requirements of, attending and completing a PG Diploma at King's College London including practical, academic, and practice-based assessments, alongside private study.


• Apply learning from the training programme in practice working with children, young people and their families.


• With the assistance of the line manager accept appropriate referrals and assess children, young people and their families for suitability for an SFP intervention.


• Formulate, implement and evaluate an appropriate therapeutic intervention for the needs of the child/young person.


• Record case notes and weekly engagement in the family folder case record and complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.


• Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with the line manager, respond to agreed objectives; and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.


• To work as part of the wider CYP-MH team in Lewisham, contributing to ongoing service development, and committing to high-quality delivery and excellent professional standards in practice at all times.
  
  Qualifications that demonstrate a capacity and capability to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level, including IELTS or equivalent to the appropriate level for students with English as a foreign language (BAND D) https://www.kcl.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/apply/entry-requirements/englishlanguage.aspx


• A registerable professional qualification (e.g. clinical or educational psychology, social work, teaching, counselling, nursing, etc).


• Minimum second-class Bachelor's Degree from a UK University or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology, social work, education etc). NOTE: Applicants who do not fulfil the academic criteria but with relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


• At least two years' experience of working with children with behavioural problems and their families, including experience of using parenting approaches, and demonstrating an appreciation of the range of factors that can impact on the presentation of child behavioural problems.


• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the impact of trauma and challenging family circumstances on children's development, of issues relating to safeguarding children and young people and with recent experience of working effectively with safeguarding issues.


• Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with children, young people and their families, maintain a reflective stance in emotive/challenging interactions, and work to enable and empower parents to make positive decisions about their children and their family lives.
  
  1st stage - virtual interview with EYA hiring panel, date will be confirmed with successful candidates


• 2nd stage - successful candidates will be sent to Anna Freud Centre and Kings College for eligibility check


• Offer stage - successful candidates must complete their recruitment checks in conjunction with applying for course directly with Kings College


Whilst this is not a term time only position, the expectation is that annual leave is taken during half terms/school holidays to ensure minimal impact to course work and service delivery.

All successful applicants will be required to register and subscribe with the DBS Update Service (if you have not already done so) and undertake a new enhanced disclosure and barring check (even if you have an existing DBS Certificate).
