Full Job Description

Are you passionate about leveraging data to drive innovation and decision-making? We're looking for a talented Data Architect to help shape the future of our cutting-edge Petcare Platform. This is an exciting opportunity to design and build greenfield data tools, processes, and capabilities that unlock the power of our real-time event data. Your work will empower analytics, operational observability, and MLOps capabilities across our engineering teams. This is a strategic, senior-level individual contributor role. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, share insights with principal engineers, and bring technical expertise and strong communication skills to the table. If you thrive on solving complex data challenges and driving impactful solutions, we want to hear from you. What You'll Do As our Data Architect, you'll:

  • Design Enterprise Data Solutions that prioritize quality, security, performance, and efficiency.
  • Enable Data Governance Frameworks to ensure data quality, reliability, and integrity.
  • Translate Business Needs into scalable, practical data solutions.
  • Develop and Refine Frameworks for logically and efficiently storing raw, processed, and enriched data.
  • Drive Innovation by staying ahead of industry trends and implementing best practices.
  • Enhance Data Strategies with cutting-edge technologies and approaches.
  • Lead Automation Initiatives to streamline processes wherever possible.

Expertise in designing and supporting production-grade data platforms or modelling approaches on Azure.
  • Deep understanding of data security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A strong grasp of Agile practices.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases, big data technologies, and integrating diverse data formats (e.g., JSON, Parquet, Avro).
  • Experience with data cataloguing, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex data challenges.
  • Desirable Experience & Knowledge:
  • Background in building or deploying Customer Data Platforms, data streaming architectures, or cloud data lakes.
  • Hands-on experience with Lakehouse Architecture (preferably Azure).
  • Familiarity with cross-cloud data sharing models and leveraging retail customer data for personalization.
  • Knowledge of MLOps frameworks or tooling (open source or cloud-native).
  • Experience using data governance tools to enhance organizational data strategy.
  • What Sets You Apart
  • Technical Leadership: You're passionate about building better tools and processes, and you bring your team along for the journey. No lone wolves here!
  • Product Mindset: You focus on delivering what's truly needed, not just what's requested.
  • Innovative Spirit: You actively identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.

If this sounds like the next step in your career, we'd love to have you join us in shaping the future of data-driven pet care. Together, let's make a difference!
  • Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you.
