Data Clerk, Band 3- Department of Critical Care

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Band 3 Data Clerk within the Department of Critical Care. The post is a cross site post but based predominately on the Gloucester site. The successful applicant will assist in the capture and reporting of data pertaining to the Critical Care service as well as lead on improvements and progression of data collection.

Duties will include the timely and accurate recording of clinical data ensuring that it is collated and validated for the purpose of submission to the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) and facilitate local funding via collection of Critical Care Minimum Data Set (CCMDS). The data from ICNARC is used to benchmark Critical Care Units nationally and analyse best practice, improving outcomes and experience.

Additional working pattern details: The hours can be worked flexibility but won't carry any enhancements, To be responsible for the provision of comprehensive data for the Department of Critical Care (DCC)

- To work collaboratively with the data collection team in order to deliver high quality data to support the overall development of improved performance and service delivery for DCC

- To co-ordinate the administration, collection, verification and completion of all critical care patient released data for the purpose of audit. Specifically responsible for overseeing submission of data to the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) programme, and to facilitate local funding via collection of the Critical Care Minimum Data Set (CCMDS)

- To collect and provide systems to ensure the accurate recording of all patient-based episodes through Critical Care, utilising both computer and paper-based systems

- To provide data for the Critical Care clinical and management teams to facilitate analysis of data required to present service outcomes, identify trends, also to prepare monthly reports on unit activity / occupancy

- To be responsible for a portfolio of data collection to meet local, regional and national priorities, ensuring the agreed targets are achieved and excellent quality of data collection

- Ensure the workload is carried out efficiently within the required timescales, dependent on the ever-changing needs of the service

The Trust provides acute hospital services from two large district general hospitals, Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Gloucestershire Hospitals is the major provider of secondary care services in the area.
