Full Job Description

You will work under the remit of the Head of Data Engineering as part of the Digital Directorate and will be a key member of the Data Engineering team working primarily on day to day ETL operations, as-well as working with the wider Performance Team and Digital Team to meet the data management needs of the Trust. As a Data Engineer you will be fundamental in developing and constructing data models for our services data warehousing needs as-well as integrating them into systems and business processes to support self-serve reporting, compliance reporting and third-party data integrations. You will provide specialist advice across a range of IM&T areas e.g. applications, information interpretation, data analysis, information reporting, information governance. You will investigate a range of specialist or complex IM&T issues and be responsible for strategic planning within specialised areas. You may need to analyse complex data and produce information reports or develop and deliver specialised training or design, develop, adapt complex software / web pages / information reports., You will report to a Lead Data Engineer and/or the Head of Data Engineering and have personal responsibility for: - implementing data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems - document source-to-target mappings - re-engineer manual data flows to enable scaling and repeatable use in an automated way - support the build of data streaming systems - write ETL scripts and code to make sure the ETL process performs optimally - build accessible data for analysis In order to fulfil these responsibilities, you will require specialist knowledge across range of procedures underpinned by theory Specialist knowledge and expertise across one or more specialised areas, acquired through degree level or equivalent qualification/ industry experience plus additional specialist knowledge. Main Tasks You will gain exposure to a number of databases / datasets within the Trust and will deal with NHS specific Datasets at both a local and national level requiring sensitivity and information governance controls to be upheld. In this role, your primary focus will be all about Data, and treating it with a level of sophistication and clarity at all levels, ensuring where possible that quality and completeness is high and made available in an appropriate manner to those that require it.
