Full Job Description

Guy Carpenter is building a new team, who are looking to change the way we use data.

We seek a talented Data Engineering Lead who, together with our Head of Analytic Strategy, will help us build the London based team & evolve process engineering for collecting, analysing and visualising data, related to reinsurance transactions, market trends and purchasing habits.

You will join our Data & Insights team, part of Global Specialties at the start of our new journey, together, we are dedicated to enhancing our colleagues' and clients' understanding of the reinsurance broking services markets, across London, Bermuda, New York, Singapore, and Mumbai.

Our ambition is to empower our colleagues to provide comprehensive advice and assist clients in making well-informed decisions regarding their reinsurance purchasing, risk appetite, and portfolio management.

Adopting Agile. we prioritise delivering value through experimentation, regular deployment, and direct engagement with stakeholders.

Our current stack features Python, Django, Angular, Postgres, Microsoft SQL, Databricks, Power BI and Excel but we will look for your insight, to explore new technologies.

What you can expect :

To join a brand new team, who together will be responsible for delivering solutions from concept to implementation.

To explore solutions for outdated applications, unstructured data, and decentralised file storage.

To collaborate and share best practices with other engineering teams at Guy Carpenter and Marsh McLennan.

A background in Analytics, Data or Software Engineering roles.

Experience of or good understanding of Product Management.

The communication and collaboration skills to work with the business and technical, development teams.

Expert knowledge in Python backend frameworks, especially FastAPI, Flask and Django.

Experience with low code frontend frameworks (e.g. Streamlit).

What will make you stand out :

Experience with modern web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).

Familiarity and experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Databricks, SQL, Power BI).

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
