We have a fantastic and interesting opportunity to join Santander as a Data Governance and Control Manager within our Payment Centre of Excellence (PCoE), this team powers payments for Santander UK (Group). This role will be focussed on data governance and forward-looking payments strategy. Payment Strategy and Data is responsible for ensuring that Santander UK is prepared for a rapidly changing payments landscape, the scope covers payments, cards and potential growth areas such as open banking, CBDC and digital identity.   • Ensuring governance of the underlying payments data is important, and challenging due to the number of teams involved across the bank, and the need to influence and lead the change needed
  • Leading and management of data governance functions to ensure ongoing compliance with data governance functions including managing a team
  • Developing and manage relationships with key internal and external industry stakeholders around data initiatives such as ISO20022 and what that means for out data strategy
  • Leading the payments data steward (currently graduate colleagues) in developing capability and management discipline
  • Ensuring that we manage and track a multitude of industry engagements and consultations including drafting responses to consultations, engaging internally with stakeholders
  • Managing of payments academy, including learning resources specific to payments and importantly management of graduate scheme

    These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
  • Previous experience of Project Management within a Payments environment
  • Experience of developing processes and procedures in regards to governance management principles
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, comfortable challenging, constructively and influencing stakeholders across all divisions of Santander
  • Able to build rapport with project stakeholders and demonstrate influencing skills
  • People management experience, as you will be leading and developing a team of people
  • Proven diagnostic, problem solving and analytical skills
  • It would also be nice for you to have:
  • Strategic background, experience with consultancy beneficial
  • Clear understanding of business and regulatory drivers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Uses all available channels and mechanisms to effectively to communicate to all employees across the bank
  • Have experience of working in agile, including an awareness of agile tools and how to use them
  • What else you need to know: This role is based in Unity Place - Milton Keynes. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
