Full Job Description

An exciting vacancy has arisen within Salford Virtual School Team for a passionate, well organised and technically savvy Information and Data Officer to oversee all aspects of our information and data needs relating to our cohort of Cared for Children and other aspects of the work of our Team. We are proud of our Virtual School, and are looking for someone special to join us on our journey.

This post is term-time only plus 10 days, but there is the possibility of offering plus 20 days.

This is a key post within our team which supports us to carry out our Statutory Duties, and your work will be central to ensuring that accurate data and information underpins our aims of improving the outcomes of Cared for Children.

We are looking for someone who is systematic, highly motivated, flexible and with good attention to detail. You will need to be a good team player and have good communication skills as you will be interfacing not just with data but with a wide range of people within the team, the LA, and beyond.

You will need to have a good understanding of data handling, analysis and reporting, with a high level of competency in Microsoft Excel. Ideally, you will have knowledge of PowerBi to help us develop a data dashboard. You will also need to have worked with management information systems and be able to accurately enter and download information.

Experience of working in an education setting or local authority in a role relating to social care data or school attendance, progress or attainment data and completing statutory returns would be an advantage, but is not essential.

In return, we offer a very supportive team environment, hybrid and flexible working with good training and opportunities for professional development.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months' salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.

If you have lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years whilst aged 18 or over, please refer to the link below for details for how to obtain your Certificates of Good Character.
