Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our Data, Research and Insight hub. The successful applicant will be working primarily with data generated through our registration and revalidation processes.

Working with a range of data this role gives you the opportunity to build on your existing analytical, communication and problem-solving skills to respond to a variety of requests for information from across the GMC and our external customers.

You will work with colleagues across multiple directorates and with our experienced team of data analysts, statistical experts, researchers and report writers to ensure the information we produce is relevant, robust, and accurate. The work you produce will help the GMC to effectively manage and monitor registration and revalidation and support other business areas to ensure a fair and inclusive experience for practitioners and patients.

Successful applicants will be expected to work a minimum of one day a fortnight in the office with the option to attend more regularly depending on personal preference. Through the induction period there is an expectation that you will attend the office more frequently.

The role

This role would particularly suit someone with an active interest in data analysis, a keen attention to detail and an appreciation of how effective data and reporting can make a positive impact on decision making.

As part of our ongoing investment in developing our capabilities around data we're in the process of moving our reporting across to Power BI so this is a particularly exciting time to join the team. The role will also provide the successful candidate ample opportunities to build on their existing skills and develop project management experience with a range of exciting and collaborative projects.
The role involves analysing and interpreting information from a range of sources but will predominately be focussed on using the data generated through our registration and revalidation processes. Working with colleagues you will be responsible for producing and quality assuring our regular reporting and responding to a wide range of ad hoc queries.

We work with doctors, patients, and other stakeholders to support good, safe patient care across the UK. We set the standards doctors and those who train them need to meet and help them achieve them. If there are concerns these standards may not be met or that public confidence in doctors may be at risk, we can investigate, and take action if needed.

You'll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people with several excellent benefits including:

  • 30 days holiday with the option to buy and sell more

  • A generous employer pension contribution of 15%

  • Access to a range of learning and development opportunities designed to support your ongoing progression

  • Flexible working patterns

  • Attractive salary that's reviewed annually

  • Discounts at 100s of high street and online stores

  • Discounted gym membership

  • Private medical insurance

  • Employee assistance programme

  • Cycle to work scheme for those wanting a greener commute

  • Bike lockers and shower facilities

  • The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination. We are also committed to the Disability Confident employer scheme and support the requirements of the Disability Confident interview scheme. If you have a disability and meet the cut-off mark for the essential criteria for this role as outlined in the person specification document, you will be offered an interview.
