Full Job Description

To support the Data & Insights Manager in support, maintenance, and development of CDG data and reporting systems and promote a continuous improvement, and 'single source of truth', culture. The candidate will be key to the CDG's move to new enterprise data technology so a willingness and capability to learn and adapt is required. In addition, the role provides a reporting service to the CDG with the development and delivery of regular and ad-hoc management reports using cutting edge tools and techniques. The candidate will have a data technology and reporting background and will have the ability to adapt to new technology and ways of working. They will also have the confidence to engage with all levels of the organisation and to prioritise demands, whilst maintaining excellent professional working relationships., The Data & Insights Analyst will contribute to an inclusive working environment where all colleagues are treated with fairness and respect, applying the 'Being Freshfields' principles at all times. The Data & Insights Analyst supports the global CDG. Specific activities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Data & Insights Manager in day-to-day operations and cover in times of absence.
  • Bespoke reports and data analysis:
  • + Support CDG management reporting needs as required. + Ad hoc management and operational reporting on demand. + Ad hoc data analysis on demand. + Use of the best tools to deliver reports in the most efficient way.
  • Technology - Power BI, Power Automate and SharePoint:
  • + Monitor production reports and automation to ensure a continuous and accurate service to the CDG. + Respond to issues that arise in production systems, troubleshoot, identify the root cause, and fix in appropriate timescales. + Change management of production systems to fix known issues, and to introduce new features. + Develop new automation and reports as required. + Manage permissions to ensure appropriate availability for all CDG staff, and to reduce risk. + Work with CDG staff to build and maintain the CDG House to deliver content efficiently, appropriately, and accurately. + Manage and develop data lists and other assets in the CDG House to work alongside automation and reporting requirements.
  • Engage with IT and the Data Office to:
  • + Ensure enterprise level standards and compliance in the CDG. + Tap into enterprise expertise for the resolution of issues, and to inform ongoing development. + Ensure involvement of the CDG in ongoing adoption of new technologies and standards.
  • Engage with CDG staff:
  • + Provide training and guidance to CDG staff to assist them with adoption of new technology and ways of working. + Support CDG staff by answering questions or directing them to relevant resources.
  • Data integrity
  • + Monitoring of late Intapp timesheets and taking action to promote adherence to best practice. + Advising on best practice in time recording.
  • Documentation/Governance:
  • + Assist with the development and maintenance of documentation of CDG systems. + Help to develop and monitor the governance of CDG systems.
  • Future proofing:
  • Identify, encourage, and support continuous improvement of management reporting, processes, and technology.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field of data analytics, automation, and reporting.

    Business analysis - investigate business process and reporting requirements, understand and define data and reporting requirements.
  • Technical skills -
  • + Experience with the Office365 platform + Excel, with in-depth analysis using formulas. + Management of SharePoint. + Development of simple Power BI reports. + The ability to understand simple code, process, and logic. + An understanding of Data Theory and its application.
  • Training and support - Ability to train working SharePoint and PBI skills, answer questions, general support responding to access requests, small changes, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Communication - Strong written and verbal skills, some experience writing technical documentation, and a general ability to provide excellent written content, such as guidance, training etc.
  • Attitude - A technical affinity, the enthusiasm to develop technical skills, and the ability to try ideas and recognise when they will or won't work.
  • Good to have:
  • Business analysis - Ability to understand business problems and be innovative in finding technical, or otherwise, solutions. Ability to spot opportunity for efficiencies using tech solutions, and the ability to recognise when tech isn't the answer.
  • Technical
  • + More advanced SharePoint - Management of complex permissions structures in SharePoint. Development of site pages, advanced settings, and sitewide management. + More advanced PBI - Creating and publishing complex reports - manipulating data, joining tables, relational data, advanced measures. + Power Automate - Development skills, power query and DAX skills, understand data theory, experience in developing with Power Automate.
