Full Job Description

Manage the provision and assurance of network and infrastructure data management services, working with customers and stakeholders to identify future requirements. Lead specific data, standards and service improvement activities and act as a specialist for the management of network and infrastructure data to the industry.

About the role (External)

What does the average day look like?

1. Support the network and infrastructure team in the delivery of data management services for network and infrastructure to meet business, customer and stakeholder requirements

2. Manage the collation of relevant asset data from internal and external data providers

3. Support the management, maintenance and synchronisation of relevant datasets and related support

systems in accordance with applicable standards and work instructions

4. Manage the provision of network and infrastructure data required by other internal and external systems and processes, liaising with system maintainers and stakeholders as necessary

5. Contribute to and/or undertake the development and implementation of relevant Business Critical

6. Rules, Means of Control, standards, processes and procedures as required

7. Support the development of and implement an assurance framework and appropriate KPIs for the management of network and infrastructure data; work with stakeholders to develop remediation activities as required

8. Lead communication on network and infrastructure data management activities and promote awareness of the relevant standards throughout the organisation

9. Work with managers and stakeholders to identify future needs for network and infrastructure data and assess the impact on current resources, processes and systems

10. Identify, develop and lead specific projects to improve the quality and availability of network and infrastructure data and information

11. Act as a business specialist on the management of network and infrastructure information, providing technical advice to internal and external customers and stakeholders as required.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly created data team within Central Route, everyday you'll have the opportunity to make a difference in improving our asset data which support our frontline staff and engineering decisions being made.

We are looking for someone who is resilient, has an eye for detail, is willing to learn new skills and wants to see projects through to completion.

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:

· A level, or equivalent, in relevant subjects

· Demonstrable experience of network and infrastructure data capture methodologies

· Broad experience and knowledge of data management and data quality issues

· Excellent communication, interpersonal and report writing skills

· Proven experience of team management

· Proven ability to work systematically and meet deadlines

· Knowledge of infrastructure, geospatial and schematic data relating to the GB railway

It's not mandatory to have the below, but it would be desirable to have:

• Degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in a numerate discipline

• Proven ability to work with senior management to understand their requirements

• Good knowledge of the architecture of Network Rail's asset registers

• Knowledge of computer systems related to network and infrastructure asset data

• Knowledge of asset and information management

· Microsoft PowerBI and the Power suite apps

· Knowledge of geospatial tools, Safe behaviour is a requirement of working for Network Rail. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their awareness of our safety vision

Within this role, you will be part of the North West & Central Region, working for the Central Route.

The Central route covers a major part of the national rail network, with hundreds of thousands of passengers, and thousands of tonnes of freight carried within our route each week. Within our route is the Chiltern Main Line between London Marylebone and the West Midlands, the Snow Hill line from Stratford-upon-Avon to Worcester, the Cross City line in Birmingham, and lines to other cities including Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, and Oxford.

We also have big plans under way in the Central route. The planned HS2 railway includes stops in Birmingham and Solihull, providing much-needed additional capacity on the rail network and faster journeys for passengers. East West Rail will also re-establish a rail link between Cambridge and Oxford and improve connectivity within the region.

· Salary: Band 4B, salary range starting from £35,582 raising to £40,029 per annum.
