If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you., The national patient safety team is responsible for delivering statutory patient safety duties across the NHS. These are:

  • collecting information about what goes wrong in the health service, in part by maintaining and operating the Learning from Patient Safety Events system (LFPSE); and

  • using that information to provide advice and guidance for the purposes of maintaining and improving the safety of the services provided by the health service., The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive, high quality administration and data quality related support to the Patient Safety Team including undertaking data cleansing, comparing data from different sources to ensure quality, consistency and accuracy of patient safety data and outputs. This requires a flexible and positive approach to work with the ability to plan and maintain your own workload.

  • With demonstrable experience using IT software such as Microsoft Office, you will support management by producing regular reports on data quality issues and on activities in the team, such as the type and volume of customer request for data.
    Attention to detail and high-level communication skills are key as you will be a first point of contact and will liaise with internal staff, the general public and external bodies and customers.
    These responsibilities will be subject to change and post holders will be expected to respond flexibly to changing circumstances.,
  • Post holder is the first point of contact for the team and will liaise with staff, customers, the general public and external agencies and respond to enquiries in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring accurate message taking and reasonable response times.

  • Provide routine analysis on data quality under the supervision of the data manager

  • Contribute to meetings where data quality is being discussed and communicate data quality issues in relation to specific projects

  • Contribute to and maintain key documents such as the data quality manual and data sharing agreement.

  • Required to develop and manage effective systems for the work of the data quality team including developing a tracking system for the management of external requests for incident level data and providing routine management reports on all requests.

  • Undertake data cleansing tasks including data anonymization and other activities to identify, mitigate and solve data quality issues

  • Produce and validate Patient Safety Team activity reports and undertake simple ad hoc data searches and checks, using established sources.
