Full Job Description

As the Data Privacy, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Ethics Manager, you will play a crucial leadership role in the design, implementation and ongoing oversight and improvement of operational Data Privacy, AI (both Foundational and Generative) and Data Ethics requirements as part of the overarching Data Governance Framework. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead the design and implementation of efficient operational data privacy, AI and ethics practices, strategies and frameworks, including operating models, accountability arrangements policies, procedures and key risk and control arrangements. You will lead the design and implementation of the operational Data Privacy, AI and Ethics strategies collaborating with various stakeholders to establish policies, standards, and procedures, and oversee implementation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and business rules. You will work closely with the DPO office, key strategic partners and the business to establish collaborative operational data privacy, AI and Ethics arrangements that build good quality data sets that are fit for purpose, trusted and can be used, shared and analysed for business insight and decision-making - maximising the value of our data and supporting the business growth strategy. Responsibilities Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of the Munich Re Specialty Global Markets (MRS-GM) operational Data Privacy, AI & Ethics Standards and operating model to ensure the establishment of trusted and compliant personal data sets, including the provision of technical expertise in establishing Foundational and Generative AI, LLMs and other smart data technologies, ensuring early identification of key risk areas, design of operating models that mandate the considerate use of these tools in business decision-making.
  • Lead the design, implementation, oversight and reporting on the Data AI & Ethics Standard, directing business arrangements, policies and standards for design, build and operation of Data Models, working in conjunction with the DP Office and the Model Risk Policy owner.
  • Set the Data Sharing and Use Standards encompassing internal and external parties, building a comprehensive risk profile with supporting educational materials to embed understanding, operational practices and increasing opportunities for use and business insight.
  • Lead the integration of personal data into the wider Central Data Office, Data Governance, Data Risk KPIs, Data Privacy and AI, Ethics Governance, Third Party and technology arrangements at a Munich Re and MRS-GM level.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a Data M&A and Divestment Framework to ensure correct due diligence with data ingestion arrangements when MRS-GM buy, merge or create new businesses - and ensure due diligence related to the separation, transfer and/or deletion of complex data sets during the process of selling or closing existing businesses.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on the development of Operational Data Privacy Improvement plans, ensuring the business achieve consistent outcomes that integrate into the existing Data Privacy and Data Governance Operating Models.

    Proven experience in data privacy, AI (Foundation and Generative), Data Ethics, Data Governance and management, preferably in the financial services regulated industry. Experience in a senior leadership/management/project management role is necessary.
  • Privacy and AI related qualifications for example CIPPE/IAPP/Ethics and/or Ethical build of AI Models (any UK or EU certified body) coupled with highly technical expertise/experience
  • Experience applying operational data privacy, AI and Ethics practices in the business, translation of regulatory and legal concepts into operational BAU processes.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, governance principles/regulation, data management practices, and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry, such as GDPR, Solvency II, and IFRA 17.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks and standards, such as DAMA-DMBOK and ISO 8000.
