Data Quality Engineer

This is an exceptional time to be joining the University of Southampton and its Integration and Automation Services team within the University's IT department, iSolutions.
About the Role
This is a key role in support of the Data Integration project.
The primary goal is to implement a modern solution aligned with a robust Identity Governance structure to provide a platform that underpins the University's Digital Strategy aims for Organisational Excellence. This will align the identity system with the University's strategic growth plan, especially supporting the international growth agenda and desire to provide a more personalised digital experience for students and staff.
What you'll do
Expect to use your knowledge of development and testability to effect better design, promote accurate engineering decisions, and implement bug prevention strategies which are both scalable and maintainable across this set of key responsibilities:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and timely delivery of products.
o Develop and execute manual and automated test cases for software applications to ensure the reliability of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data transformations.
o End to end integration testing between multiple independent systems and interfaces (flat files, APIs (ETL), etc.
o Utilize Azure services, Snowflake data warehouse, and ODS to test data integration and migration processes.
o Conduct functional, integration, regression, and performance testing of database systems using industry standard technologies (SQL, Python, iCEDQ, etc.)
o Create and maintain documentation of test plans, test cases and testing results.
What you'll bring
o Engage with product owners and development leads to create testing strategies.
o Identify areas of improvement in data quality processes and propose solutions to enhance data accuracy and reliability.
o Collaborate with data engineering and development teams to implement data quality best practices and optimize data workflows.
o Document data quality issues, testing procedures, and resolutions for future reference and knowledge sharing.
o Experience with data processing concepts like mapping documents and complex data relationships.

o Experience with requirement analysis, defect tracking, coordinating with team members in different locations, and test reporting and signoff.
o Strong analytical and technical skills to address sophisticated issues.
o Ability to perform root cause analysis on defects.
o Assist in developing and maintaining data governance policies and standards.
o Design, monitor and maintain QA reports, KPIs & quality trends for the internal data systems.
o Detailed and organized approach to solving problems.
o Communication skills that prioritize collaboration over conflict.
o Previous experience with Agile methodology
