Full Job Description

As a Data Scientist, you will enhance PEI's growth and achievement by improving the customer experience with intelligent, customized solutions. You will leverage the latest AI and ML technologies to ensure our customer offerings are not only enjoyable and seamless but also at the cutting edge of industry innovation.

In this role, you will build models that drive impact for customers. You will be able to apply your skillset across a broad variety of application areas and grow along with our business.

As a Data Scientist at PEI you will…

  • Develop new or improve our current machine learning models and deploy into production

  • Apply your expertise in analytics, data science, and data storytelling to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with our products and communications and how those insights can inform our communication strategy

  • Guide and enable teams to measure things that matter; initiate or help run A/B experiments to keep improving everything we do

  • Liaise with engineers to keep making sure we collect the right data to produce relevant business insights

  • Collaborate with various departments within the organisation, including product, editorial, and commercial, to leverage machine learning and analytics to uncover opportunities for optimization

  • Carry out deep analysis into the core aspects of how PEI works to be able to fully understand the levers and propose opportunities to improve

    Although we are keeping direct experience and knowledge requirements to a minimum, we do need you to demonstrate your capabilities in relation to the points listed under essential requirements in the person specification. You should be prepared to discuss illustrations on how your competencies have helped you to achieve positive results., Have an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline

  • Have considerable knowledge of, and experience using advanced statistical techniques in an applied setting

  • Possess the ability to write production quality code in Python and SQL

  • Have a self-starter mindset; you proactively identify issues and opportunities and tackle them without being told to do so

  • Are commercially minded and can put numbers into business perspective

  • Are as comfortable getting hands-on as taking a step back and thinking strategically

  • Are a team player whom your colleagues can rely on

  • Have experience in conducting A/B experiments

  • Have excellent presentation and communication skills and get excited to turn data into stories accessible for stakeholders

  • Are comfortable with complexity & developing a holistic understanding of a system to propose & build solutions
