Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Opportunity

As part of the Perkins Aftermarket within ISPD, the Strategy team are responsible for leading complex cross functional projects, creating new processes and introducing new systems. This team works with all the Perkins aftermarket functions working to deliver process improvements to enhance the group's performance and improve our overall customer experience.

This new role will be integral in leading our systems and data strategy, the architect of the future Perkins Aftermarket systems landscape. The Perkins aftermarket group has many new and legacy systems which require further development to ensure they meet the needs to our internal teams while providing an exceptional customer experience. Data is the foundation of these systems and with an array of different tools available this role will help to define how and where we should present our data to our customers. With an analytics community across multiple functions already existing within the Perkins aftermarket team, this role is will help drive a common direction.

This role will set the standard for Perkins data ensuring high quality, accurate data can be used across the organisation, including the creation of a data dictionary and appropriate measurements for the quality of data. The person will be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities in the existing data infrastructure and opportunities to improve the data landscape.

This leadership position offers the successful applicant an excellent opportunity to undertake cross functional projects, work closely with the IT team to create roadmaps for different systems and work to improve our customer experience.

What You Will Do:

  • Working closely with the IT team to develop multi-year system plans

  • Working closely with product owners to support development of roadmaps

  • Leading the development of the Perkins Aftermarket data lake

  • Developing an analytics strategy that can be deployed across the aftermarket business

  • Review new Microsoft software add-ons being released and communicating benefits through to the wider aftermarket team

  • Lead cross functional project teams

    Candidates will have gained the following skills and extensive experience through previous roles:

  • Database Structures: Knowledge of database structures; ability to organize and store data in a particular data structure.

  • Organizational Leadership: Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist other sin setting, embracing and achieving objectives.

  • Communicating Complex Concepts : Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

  • Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.


  • Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
  • Proficient in the use of MS office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio)

  • Familiar with Alteryx, Tableau and the Microsoft 365 tool portfolio
