Full Job Description

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. In this role you will be part of Sussex Police Strategic Insights Team who bring together research, data analytics and understanding of operational policing to support the organisation to deliver effective and efficient services across all business areas in line with our priorities. As a Data Visulisation Developer you will desiging and building Power BI reports which are interactive and visually appealing, analysing data and presenting data through reports that aid decision making to support Priorities Delivery Plan. You will consult with relevant business leads to understand the BI requirements of operational policing functions and undertake data discovery work to map business requirements to Sussex Police systems and data. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Insights Team to test the data and identify data quality issues. Represent the Strategic Insights Team at appropriate internal meetings and engage with wider business and partners. Qualification:- A Level or equivalent standard education.,

  • Demonstrable ability to design and create reports in Microsoft Power BI from a variety of data sources. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with a wide spectrum of people, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be respectful, empathetic and non-judgemental, maintaining professional standards at all times.
  • Problem solving skills including interpretation, analysis, evaluation and resolution from a range of data.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to work to tight deadlines and within particular timeframes.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills in order to ensure that the workload is managed to meet timescales without constant close supervision.

    The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
