We are currently recruiting for a Day Team Member to join our Manchester Wheat Plant. This role will focus on driving continuous improvement in plant operations, supporting both production and maintenance efforts to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant operations. You will work closely with the shift teams and report directly to the Wheat Area Superintendent. Working Hours : 8am - 4pm, Monday to Friday ( with a requirement to cover shifts due to longer term absences & vacancies) Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure plant operations meet safety, food quality, and environmental standards. Participate in hygiene audits and behavioural safety programs.
  • Daily monitoring and review of process performance both from DCS and in plant
  • Ensure production targets are met including yield and efficiencies and area KPI's
  • Using DCS computerized Screens to monitor and control plant in line with daily goals
  • Interpretation of data and troubleshooting of unit operation
  • Leading the drive on maintaining and improving housekeeping standards
  • Coaching and assisting other team members as required
  • Covering jobs within the Wheat plant once assessed as competent to do so
  • Taking samples of products
  • Basic laboratory checks on product
  • Completing written records detailing information for ISO and Food Safety Standards
  • Preparation of planning for shutdowns including preparation of safety documentation, permits to work, PJHA
  • Raise Work orders to rectify defects within channel
  • Keep all Day team logs/reports up to date when required.
  • Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven experience in a technical operations plant, with the aptitude & willingness to learn the required skills & knowledge within a given timeline
  • Excellent understanding of Food Safety and Quality Standards, and Health and Safety
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coach colleagues
  • IT literate & strong experience in centrally controlled process operation environment using computerized screens to monitor and control a plant
  • Proactive attitude, and willingness to be accountable for performance
  • Ability to challenge the status quo in a constructive manner
  • Awareness of Reliability Excellence
  • In process analysis experience
  • Front line maintenance experience, preferably proved in a process plant environment
  • Demonstrated commitment and application of Continuous Improvement within the plant
  • Level 2/3 or equivalent in process Operations
  • Basic chemistry knowledge, GCSE or equivalent
