Full Job Description

North Tyneside Council are looking to recruit a swimming teacher (level 2) to work across the sport and leisure service, to deliver North Tyneside Council's school swimming provision and Learn to Swim Programme.

The main duties are to deliver swimming instruction in accordance with Swim England standards and industry best practice. This right candidate will promoting a positive image of North Tyneside Council, have a passion for teaching people to swim making it fun and rewarding experience, encourage participation, maintaining registers and attend meetings when required. A commitment to ongoing professional development is essential.

Candidates must hold a level 2 swimming teacher's qualification with a recognised awarding body.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and an Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.

The position is a static term time only 195 day contract, working 18 hours per week, based at Waves Leisure Centre. You would be required to work the following hours each week:

Mon 15.45-19.45 (4 hours)
Weds 11-18.30 (7 hours)
Thurs 11-18.30 (7 hours)

Salary is Grade 6 SCP12-15 £26,421 to £27,803 (pro rata for a part time contract and for a 195 days per year, averaged across 12 months)
