Full Job Description

We are currently looking for social workers at all stages in their career to join our our Safe and Supported Teams undertaking long term work with our children and young people. Full time or part time, part time arrangements to be negotiated. We want the best for children, young people and families and we know to achieve this we have to provide the best for our staff. Safeguarding intervention is challenging and we want to make sure our staff feel safe in their practice. We offer small supportive team structure, where you benefit from a high level of practice guidance and oversight. We encourage peer support from your team. You will have access to regular group supervision. Senior managers are visible and accessible so you know you are never alone in the work that you do with children, young people and families. We have a range of resources and support in place to ensure our staff have a healthy work life balance. These include flexible and agile working arrangements, generous annual leave entitlement and access to fantastic money saving offers across the region. We engage our staff in a range of clinical support opportunities including counselling and Schwartz rounds to combat the emotional strains of the day job. We are committed to continuing to develop this offer and responding to the needs of our teams. We are committed to supporting the development opportunities of our teams and have an extensive in-house training offer as well as access to regional HEI post qualification courses and national learning opportunities. The practice model used in North Tyneside is Signs of Safety, and you will be supported in developing and using this approach. You will receive regular high quality reflective supervision that focuses on case management as well as your own professional development. We listen to our colleagues and promote various opportunities for leaders to hear your voice. These include regular Children's Services healthcheck and consultation opportunities on the things that matter to you and your work. Our staff tell us they are happy working with us. 96% of staff in our recent staff health check told us they affirm they make a significant contribution to achieving positive outcomes for children and families. Over three quarters of our staff told us they would recommend working for North Tyneside Children's Services to their friends. So isn't it time you had a look!

You will be a qualified social worker with experience in statutory social work in one or more of the following areas: child in need plans, child protection assessments and plans, and children in the care of the local authority. You will have experience of working in partnership - with children, their family and wider networks, and professional colleagues across education, health, police and the voluntary sector. It is important that you have excellent written skills, and are proficient in using IT. We will provide you with devices and equipment that promotes flexibility in how you work, and training in LCS, our electronic child record system. You will be appointed to Grade 9 or 10 depending upon your qualifications and experience

North Tyneside Children's Social Care is considered to be Outstanding by Ofsted in recognition of the services and outcomes for children, young people and families.
