Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for 1 Team Manager to lead our Pre Birth Team. The Pre Birth Team is a small, specialist Team of 2 Advanced Practitioner and 1 Family Support Worker. You will be responsible for providing the leadership and supervision for the Team. The Team works intensively with a small number of families from the point of referral through the pre birth and post birth period using a clear practice model, which is used across the North East region. The Team is overseen by the Service Manager for the Front Door, is supported by an established multi agency Steering Group and is well embedded within Children 's Services in North Tyneside. Senior managers are visible and accessible so you know you are never alone in the work that you do with children, young people and families. You will be responsible for the overall management and development of the Pre Birth Team and ensuring that social work practice follows the Signs of Safety model. You will join the Regional Pre Birth Team Management Group to support the ongoing development and implementation of pre birth work, and learning from colleague and practices across the region. We want the best for children, young people and families and we know to achieve this we have to provide the best for our staff. We have a range of resources and support in place to ensure our staff have a healthy work life balance. These include flexible and agile working arrangements, generous annual leave entitlement and access to fantastic money saving offers across the region. We engage our staff in a range of clinical support opportunities including counselling and Schwartz rounds to combat the emotional strains of the day job. We are committed to continuing to develop this offer and responding to the needs of our teams. We are committed to supporting the development opportunities of our teams and have an extensive in-house training offer as well as access to regional HEI post qualification courses and national learning opportunities. The practice model used in North Tyneside is Signs of Safety, and you will be supported in developing and using this approach. You will receive regular high quality reflective supervision that focuses on case management as well as your own professional development. We listen to our colleagues and promote various opportunities for leaders to hear your voice. These include regular Children's Services healthcheck and consultation opportunities on the things that matter to you and your work. 100% of colleagues who responded told they feel their line managers care about their wellbeing. 97% of colleagues tell us they are supported to attend training. Everyone scaled 5 or higher when asked how much they felt their work contributed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people, and 94% would recommend working for NTC

You will be a qualified social worker with at least 5 years experience in statutory social work in one or more of the following areas: child in need plans, child protection assessments and plans, and children in the care of the local authority. You will have experience of working in partnership - with children, their family and wider networks, and professional colleagues across education, health, police and the voluntary sector. It is important that you have excellent written skills, and are proficient in using IT. We will provide you with devices and equipment that promotes flexibility in how you work, and training in LCS, our electronic child record system.

North Tyneside Children's Social Care is considered to be Outstanding by Ofsted in recognition of the services and outcomes for children, young people and families. We want the best for our families, and would encourage you to join us in our commitment to continuously deliver the services that make a difference to children and young people.

In return for your valuable contribution you will have access to our excellent benefits package:

  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (for contracts of 3 months or more)
  • A supportive Occupational Sick Pay scheme
  • A generous annual leave allowance, which increases with service, plus bank holidays.
  • Annual pay increments up to the top of the salary grade.
  • Access to Occupational Health services including physiotherapy and counselling.
  • Our Employee Assistance Programme which includes a telephone helpline and extensive online resources for support and advice
  • Extensive training and development opportunities including access to our Learning Pool online platform.
  • Supported career progression.
  • Discounted membership of our Leisure Centres including 5 gyms; 4 pools; 1 spa and over 250 classes every week
