The DC Ops Migration Technician is responsible for the detailed auditing, preparation, and execution of data center migrations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to strict migration protocols to ensure the successful relocation of server infrastructure, network components, storage systems, and associated cabling. The DC Ops Migration Technician is responsible for the detailed auditing, preparation, and execution of data center migrations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to strict migration protocols to ensure the successful relocation of server infrastructure, network components, storage systems, and associated cabling., Pre-Migration Auditing: - Conduct comprehensive audits of existing server infrastructure. - Document detailed configurations of servers, storage, firewalls, and network cross-connects. - Assess the condition and layout of existing cabling and cross-connects. Migration Preparation: - Prepare migration plans following detailed instructions and project requirements. - Pre-cable cabinets to receive devices being migrated, ensuring proper labeling and organization. - Coordinate with network and storage teams to ensure all pre-migration checks are completed. Physical Migration: - Execute physical migrations of servers, storage, and network devices. - Ensure proper handling and installation of all hardware components. - Perform cable management tasks, including running, connecting, and securing cables. Post-Migration Verification: - Conduct quality control (QC) checks to ensure migration accuracy. - Verify the functionality and connectivity of migrated devices. - Resolve any issues or discrepancies identified during post-migration checks. Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain detailed records of all migration activities. - Update documentation to reflect new configurations and setups. - Provide regular status updates and detailed reports to the Data Center Manager and other stakeholders. Basic Troubleshooting: - Perform basic network troubleshooting, including diagnosing connectivity issues. - Conduct basic OS troubleshooting for both Windows and Linux servers. - Familiarity with remote access systems and their configuration to support offsite troubleshooting. Collaboration and Communication: - Work closely with Migration Project manager, and technical teams. - Follow detailed instructions and protocols to ensure consistency and reliability. - Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders throughout the migration process.

  • Must be a self-starter who enjoys working in a team-based environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must prepare and deliver technical training sessions for data center staff.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including 24x7x365 coverage, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to prioritize work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, including the resolution of escalated issues and events.
  • Must have exceptional communication and grammatical skills, including highly professional phone etiquette.
  • Must be proficient with productivity software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Open Office, and email client software, including the creation of rules and folder organization.
  • Must be able to type with proficiency and accuracy.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs overhead.
  • Must be able to travel and stay in different locations and countries during the migration duration (London and Frankfurt).
