Full Job Description

We are looking for experienced C&I and DCS Engineers to join our client's team. This is an exciting time to join the team and represents an opportunity for the right individuals to work with a diverse mix of both established and new power plant and technology on advanced power stations. What we are looking for We are looking for people who can bring a flexible, enthusiastic approach, are highly self-motivated, conscientious and can demonstrate ownership of issues through to the implementation of solutions. You will be capable of demonstrating and developing extensive knowledge and skills in a range of varied C&I and DCS engineering and maintenance work activities of a complex and non-routine nature in such a way as to maximise resource utilisation and power plant availability. You must display capacity for individual responsibility and autonomy while demonstrating exemplary standards of safety culture. Key Activities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible to a Team Leader for ensuring that work targets and objectives are satisfactorily completed and that all work is completed across the main KPI s (safety, time, cost, quality, technical performance and compliance)
  • They will be responsible for delivering projects and outages, working closely with the Asset Operations, Asset Management and OEMS s ensuring process compliance, CDM compliance and the highest standard of HSSE and Quality performance.
  • Technical design and delivery of low to high risk technical improvement projects.

    Applied experience of power plant control and protection systems. Fault finding, maintenance and risk management is essential.
  • Knowledge of DCS (Distributed Control Systems) architecture.
  • Knowledge and experience with plant instrumentation troubleshooting, calibration and replacement.
  • A sound understanding of Power Station operations, knowledge of current regulations and policy which affect the management and operations of power plantengineering assets.
  • Contract Management skills and experience to appropriately challenge contractors on the methods, quality, and standards of work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships within the team, across functions and with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills to include effective prioritisation and resource management.
  • A good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and standards to IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent.
  • A sound technical knowledge of engineering and maintenance practices gained through experience.
  • A broad knowledge and experience of maintenance activities in an engineering skill spanning more than one plant area.
  • To be able to challenge appropriately to ensure projects are suitably defined and agreed to optimise business value.
  • Contract and project management skills to be able to run several contracts within a project which involve on/off site working to include the health, safety and environmental aspects as well as the commercial and technical issues.
  • Full driving licence with flexibility to travel to UK Sites as and when required. Desirable:
  • Use and knowledge of best practice lean tools for resolving engineering issues to root cause level.
  • Management of DCS and PLC systems.
  • Educated to a Higher National Diploma or Degree level in a C&I DCS related discipline.
  • Management of alarms and simulations.
  • Knowledge of Safety Related Systems (IEC 61508/61511)
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security (OT/IT)
  • Knowledge and competence of using SAP based systems.
