We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. Working patterns such as: part time working, self-rostering, compressed hours, annualised hours, term time, reverse term time and flexitime working can be explored., The centralised decontamination unit is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible team member to assist in the decontamination and delivery of endoscopes to our user areas within the hospital.
The successful candidate will enjoy a challenge and be team orientated but able to work on their own initiative.
In return you will work in a friendly supportive team and be given an induction period which will train you to work within the controlled systems, processes and guidelines in the unit., The Endoscopy Decontamination Unit decontaminates all clinical and medical devices which can be reprocessed.
The functions of the department are undertaken with adherence to the Quality Management System ISO 13485 2012/2016 and compliance with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures.
+ To decontaminate and supply Endoscopes to departments within Blackpool Victoria Hospital
+ Work to deadlines, assuring the quality and safe use of all instruments and of all equipment that is prepared, prior to decontamination for all user groups
+ Ensure compliance with required standards, documented procedures and work instructions
+ Support the Vision and Values of the Trust, Stock Control
1. Ensure that stock rotation is carried
2. Check that the minimum stock levels are maintained and liaise with
3. Top up raw materials on a daily basis within decontamination
Decontamination Process:
4. Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all
5. Follow the correct entry and exit procedure for the Brush and Clean room.
6. Follow all work instructions for the safe handling and cleaning of all instrumentation and the safe use of all
7. Track and trace all equipment through the I.T. System (Scantrack).
8. Carry out in house cleaning tasks as
9. Report all non - conformances to a Supervisor/ unit co-ordinator or unit
10. Handle all equipment with
11. Ensure the correct clothing is worn at all times and minimal make up is
12. Carry out cleaning tasks as
13. Follow hand hygiene
14. Follow work instructions for the safe use of
15. Follow all work instructions for the safe handling checking and packing of scopes and accessories.
16. Adhere to the uniform
17. Report all breech in ISO regulations to a Supervisor/ unit co-ordinator or unit
18. Handle all equipment with
19. Trouble shoot any issues identified with AER's.
20. Report any breakdowns to identified
Delivery and Storage Process (Clean Room):

36. Follow all work instructions for the safe handling of scope trays and

Miscellaneous:
39. All personal protective equipment which is provided must be used in the correct manner
40. Assist in the training of new decontamination
41. Ensure all products are tracked from the point of receipt, throughout decontamination, final release and dispatch using the Scantrack IMS tracking system and/or paper- based system as
42. Ensure Quality Management System records are completed accurately and legibly and that uncontrolled changes are not made to documents or
43. Good timekeeping.

If the role you have applied for requires a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check we will administer this as part of your pre-employment checks. Please note, you will be required to repay the cost on appointment. This will be collected via a salary deduction. You can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months from your salary or as a one-off payment on commencement in post. The level of check required depends on the role that you have been offered. Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £22.00, Standard DBS check £22.00 and Enhanced DBS check £42.00.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £13. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
