Full Job Description

As an integral member of the Endoscopy Unit (EU) team, the post holder will provide support to the medical and nursing team.
A major part of the role will be providing a decontamination service to the EU, internal wards/departments and to peripheral outpatient clinics, + To check and inspect used instruments ready for manual cleaning and report any defects or discrepancies to the decontamination lead or nurse in charge.
+ To manually clean flexible endoscopes according to national decontamination guidelines and record the details
+ To load and unload flexible endoscopes from the washers/disinfectors and report any issues to decontamination lead/manager.
+ To do water test weekly and report any as per guidelines.
+ To report any damaged endoscope and return to appropriate company for repair.
+ To undertake training appropriate to role and all trust wide mandatory training, + To receive and decontaminate flexible endoscopes and equipment that requires decontamination.
+ To check and inspect used instruments ready for manual cleaning and report any defects or discrepancies to the unit manager or nurse in charge.
+ To manually clean flexible endoscopes according to national decontamination guidelines
+ To load and unload flexible endoscopes from the washers/disinfectors.
+ To dispose of clinical/household waste and linen as required
+ To clean workstations daily
+ To take sterile water samples from washer/disinfectors according to unit policy.
+ To complete endoscope tracking paperwork
+ To report any damaged endoscope and return to appropriate company for repair.
+ To competently work the washer/disinfectors and report any faults or concerns to the nurse in charge or the appropriate company.
+ To undertake training appropriate to role and all trust wide mandatory training.
+ Keep department tidy and help department with infection prevention and control measure.
