Defence Trainer / Instructor & Author

As a Defence Trainer & Author, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will have the opportunity to deliver training/instruction in the field of Gunnery on Armoured Fighting Vehicles to the British Military.

Day-to-day, you will deliver high quality teaching and training, ensuring effective use of resources to a high standards of learning and achievement for all students.

• To instruct students in modules of technical gunnery lessons on Challenger 2 (CR2)


• To assist units during Field Firing periods at Castlemartin and Lulworth ranges.


• Conduct formative and summative assessments


• Submit course statistics and reports as required


• To liaise with the Authority on course content and assist the Authority and Group management in the conduct of trials and evaluations as requested


• To assist the Gunnery Authors and the combat Publications Team in the authoring/amendment of documents/media.


This role is full time on site and will be based at the Armour Centre - Lulworth

Essential experience of the Defence Trainer & Author

• Delivery of CR2 Gunnery instruction


• Experience in a training environment


• Ability to work unsupervised and using one's own initiative


• IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications


• Knowledge of SHE within the workplace


• COT (Care of Trainees) Training (Basic/Advanced) Training in this will be provided if not already qualified.


• First Aid at Work Training in this will be provided if not already qualified.


Qualifications for the Defence Trainer & Author

• Minimum Level 3 Education & Training Award (AET) or higher. Level 4 Cert in Education & Training (CET) preferred.


• Armoured Fighting Vehicle Gunnery School's Instructor Qualification (or CR2 Regimental Instructor qualification and to have been recommended to serve at the School)


Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) & Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
