Full Job Description

Overall accountability for a portfolio of projects within the project delivery function of Technology SBU.
Responsibilities will include resource, programme and commercial management to achieve planned sales and margin by efficient and effective execution of client projects.
Office Location The jobholder will be based in Warrington / Stafford / Derby / Grangemouth and will need to spend time on client sites as necessary to deliver the function.
Projects ranging in size from £10K to £5M. Volume of projects up to £20M/yr Location of projects - mainly UK with some international Number of staff - up to 15 Project Managers / Project Co-ordinators / Project Engineers
The Job Holder shall liaise closely with the Projects Director, Key Account Director, Key Account Managers, Engineering/Resource Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Quantity Surveyors/Commercial, Internal/External Sales team, Administration and Support Staff and Senior Management Team as necessary to effectively execute the function., + Effectively lead a team of Project Managers, Project Engineers & Project Co-Ordinators, maintaining sufficient competency and numbers of staff and contractors to deliver the programme of projects and to assist in the generation of estimates, proposals and tenders, as necessary. Ensure the team is properly informed and motivated by leading the communication process.
+ Working with the Resource Managers and Senior Management Team, ensure the effective allocation of competent resources to projects to enable delivery of projects to agreed dates. Effectively plan forward load requirements for resource.
+ Identify the need for the recruitment or reduction of staff as required to meet client deliverables. Within your team, lead the personal development of project delivery staff to meet objectives and realistic development plans. Ensure that junior staff are suitably mentored and that a structured personal development programme is utilised to encourage individuals to progress within the business.
+ Carry out annual appraisals for all direct reports, ensuring objectives are being set and monitored.
+ Work with the Projects Director to review order forecasts and plan in advance for allocation of projects within your team.
+ To undertake project performance reviews, attendance of monthly commercial CVR's for all areas/contracts of responsibility within your allocated projects and those of your team.
+ Manage the effective delivery of projects to time and cost targets by personal leadership and through direct reports and other members of the Technology delivery team.
+ Oversee a portfolio of projects to manage the opportunity to maximize revenue and limit risk within projects.
+ Measure, track and analyse project performance highlighting any potential risks, issues and opportunities for action.
+ Ensure all projects assigned within your team have a timely and effective kick-off completed.
+ Ensure Project Managers are held accountable for their responsibilities by carrying out regular project reviews that analyse risks, open issues, programme data, Early Warning Notices, Variations/CEs, WIP and labour / commercial forecasting, ensuring data is up to date and available to the Projects Director and Senior Management Team. Ensure that project close out meetings are scheduled and executed. Appropriate findings from these meetings to be reported in compliance with QA process.
+ Notify the Senior Management of any significant commercial, technical or contractual risks associated with current or pending projects
+ Ensure all project delivery activities, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with Technology's established policies QA / Environmental & H&S management systems. Support internal and external audits of the management systems where necessary.
+ Lead project delivery teams and be responsible for Health & Safety performance by ensuring excellent levels of site control and by promoting a positive H&S culture within your team. Comply with any in-person site inspection requirements that might be reasonably required of you.
+ Complete monthly departmental management reports, in sufficient time for management meetings as per the Technology Business Calendar.
+ Positively promote capabilities and relationships within other parts of the BGEN Group in order to maximize on cross divisional opportunities.
+ Provide escalation support for issues and problems raised by members of your team. Report any issues you cannot resolve to the Projects Director.
+ Formally review and where necessary approve documents produced by your delivery team and engineers working for them.

+ Membership of appropriate professional institution and continued professional development
+ Extensive experience(at least 5years)in a relevant role including co-ordination/delivery of projects within automation / process industry
+ Contractmanagementexperience,includingestimating,andfinancialprojectmanagement
+ Well-developedpeoplemanagementskillsparticularlyinthemotivationofhighlyqualifiedprofessionalstaffin a diverse team
+ Detailed technical knowledge of complex control projects utilising PLC/HMI/SCADA and communications equipment
+ DetailedtechnicalknowledgeofLVAssemblyprojectsutilisingLVSwitchboards,MCCsandLCPs
+ Knowledge of current Health and Safety and employment legislation
+ Knowledge of QA systems and compliance requirements
+ Well-developed commercial awareness
+ Knowledge of project management 'bestpractice'
+ Well-developed people management skills and knowledge of performance management processes for leadership, coaching and development of staff
+ Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills
+ Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with clients
