Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Band 6 Dental Nurse Manager, Fix Term for 12 months to oversee our Sedation Clinics and Special Care service. The successful candidate will spend time overseeing our special care service & ensuring that sedation services across our departments is covered with the correct skills mix of nurses overseeing their development and training.

The special care service is growing and as well as sedation clinics our clinical teams run GA sessions in a main theatre. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills in the above areas. The successful candidate should have a Sedation Qualification and experience of special care dentistry.

The post holder will take over all responsibility for the sedation nursing across the dental network, including Special Care, Oral Surgery, Paediatric sedation & sedation services in our networked sites. Along with management of Dental Nurses, the successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Dental Nurses to delegate several key operational tasks to the Senior Dental Nurses in the day-to-day operational management of clinical services.

They will represent their department at nurse management meeting and the clinical governance group & will be expected to take responsibly for delivering agreed actions with nursing teams. The post holder will deputize for the Lead Dental Nurse in her absence.

Hours of work will be 9am to 5.30pm with an hour for lunch. The post will be a split of 80/20 clinical and admin.

We have some sedation services running in our outreach centres and the successful candidate may be asked to oversee these sedation services. These clinics are in Leytonstone, Stratford & Isle of Dogs.

We are looking for well-motivated conscientious Dental Nurses who would enjoy the challenge of working alongside a wide range of professionals and multidisciplinary teams.

The post holder will have a 50/50 split role, this will entail being the Dental Nurse Manager for Special Care & the Dental Nurse Manager for sedation nursing.

The post holder will provide leadership to the Dental Nurse team, inspiring them with excellent clinical skills & a visible commitment to patient-centeredness. They will work with the Lead Dental Nurse & Senior Nurse to escalate department & staffing issues where appropriate.

They will conduct clinical dental nursing on a minimum of two days per week, ensuring credibility with the nursing team & role modelling excellent clinical nursing skills. They will line manage the Senior Dental Nurses & an agreed number of Dental Nurses on the special care department.
