Full Job Description

The Assistant Director of Corporate Governance / Deputy Board Secretary is responsible to the Director of Corporate Governance, developing and delivering a strategic, high performing and compliant approach to corporate governance. Supporting the Health Board's commitment to excellence and the delivery of its vision and objectives. This is a unique role within the Health Board operating at the most senior level in the organisation's structure.
Provide highly effective leadership to the Corporate Governance team and act as the Assistant Director to the Director of Corporate Governance, in their leadership role, to drive the Health Board's ambition to ensure PTHB corporate governance is of high quality, high performing, compliant with statutory and mandatory requirements, and therefore contribute to the improvement in patient outcomes and their experience by providing strong, visible governance leadership.
Day-to-day remit will be working closely with the Board, Executive Team, directorates, and teams in the delivery of functions which will involve providing highly specialist governance and management support to the Board, senior committees and groups.
Deputise for the Director of Corporate Governance as appropriate and required., + Provide leadership, planning and direction with a high degree of autonomy and be proactive in working with services across the Health Board and external agencies to ensure they operate to the highest standards of governance.
+ Responsible for all aspects of the corporate governance agenda for PTHB including the development of frameworks and implementation of associated policies and procedures.
+ Lead and manage the corporate governance function.
+ Ensure the Health Board has in place clear accountability systems and practices to ensure probity, quality, assurance, and quality improvement to be the central components of all routines, processes and activities.
+ Lead the strategic planning for the corporate governance department, including the development of Board and committee business cycles, reviews of policies and standing orders and future developments of the team. The organisation of high-profile meetings, such as Board and Annual General Meetings, will be a key factor, as well as the framework for delivering the Annual Report and Annual Governance Statement.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
