The NHS is building a culture that is positive, compassionate and inclusive - and we all have our part to play.
As employers we are committed to protecting and promoting the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all our colleagues. This underpins our values as set out in the NHS Constitution and supports us to be an Employer of Choice, while helping our colleagues to deliver high quality services for our patients and communities.
As a flexible employer, we want to support you to work in a way that is best for the NHS, our patients and you. Talk to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that's a job share, part time, hybrid working or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have a 'home' office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you., The two Deputy Chief Nursing Officer roles will lead distinct portfolio areas:
1. Quality, safety, resilience, patient safety and improvement, and infection, prevention and control.
2. Children and young people programme, productivity, sustainability and innovation, and digital.
This is an exciting time to join the NHS England national nursing directorate as the 10-year Health Plan is developed and implement. You will also be uniquely placed to shape the future professional strategy for nursing and midwifery.
We are dedicated to creating a compassionate and inclusive workplace and we know that diversity creates a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better patient outcomes. We encourage applications from people who share these values and have a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion., This role will support the CNO to provide robust professional and clinically relevant information and advice to the Department of Health and Social Care and the Board of NHS England, and support the CNO's work with ministers, government officials, professional regulators and royal colleges and professional bodies to shape policy and decision making.
The role will involve broader integrated system-wide work but will also particularly support the CNO on professional matters linked to their portfolio areas.
The DCNO will be a highly credible senior nurse leader, with extensive executive-level experience in provider and / or system leadership roles and with expertise in strategic policy development and strategic implementation, quality and productivity improvement, nursing workforce development, research, and data management.
This leadership post will deputise for the CNO across the whole range of functions covered by the CNO as required.
Please see the attached job description for further details.
