Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled leader for the role with the significant operational skills and knowledge to help us deliver safe, effective and responsive services. They will be a visible, optimistic and compassionate leader. The Deputy Director of Clinical Quality Operations will have a key role supporting organisational and transformational change which delivers the Trust ambition and vision of devolved accountability to operational and functional areas and then embedding the initiatives.
This is a new post designed to support the organisation ensure we continue to deliver high quality and safe care and using the best clinical processes to ensure our care meet the needs of patients/carers and the public and meet the current and future business of the Trust.
The post holder will work closely with the Operational Directors, Deputy Directors, and Associate Directors, Medical Director for Quality Governance and Safety and Heads of Quality, Governance and Patient Safety and Assurance, Regulation and Compliance to ensure seamless communication and collaboration ensuring there is co-design, implementation and sharing of information across all the teams involved with this work., With clinical operational accountability to the Chief Medical Officer the role will be ideal for established operational leaders who are interested in quality performance and delivery at local accountable levels. The post holder will use their extensive operational experience to ensure that close matrix working across operations, clinical and quality to ensure sustainable delivery of high quality patient care, safety processes, supporting operational standards delivery and quality improvement programmes to deliver improved quality of care and outcomes.
The post is part of the Deputy CEO senior leadership team will contribute to the Executive Leadership Team's collective and compassionate leadership across the organisation. Through personal leadership, commitment and practice they will demonstrate the highest professional standards in all areas, working with senior director colleagues the Trust Board and other directorates
The post holder will be required to communicate to a large range of staff, patients and internal and external stakeholders about highly complex issues and being able to provide assurance about operational quality, better patient outcomes, experience and value for money. There will be a requirement to adapt their communication style and message to ensure collaborative working relationships are developed and overcome any resistance to change., Our vision is to deliver outstanding emergency and urgent care whenever and wherever needed for everyone in London, 24/7, 365 days a year. In developing these ambitious commitments, we have engaged extensively both inside our organisation, with our partners and with our patients, and we have analysed population trends and horizon scanned the future., The post holder will provide advice and guidance to the Executive Director(s) to enable them to effectively represent the Trust at internal and external meetings
Working closely with the LAS Director and Deputy Director of Operations, Deputy Director for Clinical Pathways and Medical Directors for Emergency Care and Urgent Care they will support the formation of strong and strategic alliances and support the building of sustainable relationships with ICS services, Commissioners of our work and NHS England (London Region) to provide assurance around local quality delivery.
The post-holder will prepare well-structured reports to provide assurance on areas of responsibility which will require extensive interpretation of highly complex and sensitive information and make appropriate judgments and recommendations about actions and plans. They will support the delivery of robust governance arrangements ensuring that systems are in place where concerns are raised these are appropriately reviewed in a timely way and mitigated and processes are updated
To lead their areas across the full range of portfolio ensuring operational delivery targets are consistently met. This will be done through close oversight of the workplans and deliverables including setting objectives, carrying out appraisals and supporting the development of their team.
The post holder will develop a financial strategy and instil a culture of financial and budgetary discipline and will likely be managing a budget of over £2 million. This will involve holding managers and teams accountable for expenditure, promoting a cost effective, value for money service
As an operational clinician to undertake a minimum of one clinical shift per month and will be expected to be on call at a strategic or senior level for the Trust.
