Full Job Description

  • The Deputy Director of Nursing will support the Director of Nursing to provide professional and managerial leadership to Nurses and AHPs across the LCO and dental hospital.
  • They will contribute to the strategic planning for professional standards across the LCO and dental hospital and will ensure that service objectives are implemented through nursing/ AHPs and that there is demonstrable continuous improvement in standards of patient care across all services.
  • Leadership and management portfolio which mirrors that of the Director of Nursing specifically: Quality, Patient Experience, Infection Control, Workforce, Education & safeguarding vulnerable people. The post covers adult and children's services across the LCO and dental hospital.
  • Establish and develop partnerships with all hospital sites as required, providing professional and clinical advice in the development of new models of care to support the move of care from hospital to the community setting.
  • The post holder will support the Director of Nursing of LCO and the dental hospital to ensure that all risks arising from their portfolio are managed in line with the Trust risk management policy and national guidance.
  • Monitor the delivery of evidenced based practice and support the implementation of the results of research findings across the LCO and dental hospital through changes in clinical practice in relation to nursing/ AHP issues, Act as an effective role model for the profession, contribute to a culture of positive performance management and develop own credibility through the demonstration of high standards of nursing/ AHP care
  • Provide a key role in the delivery of the Trust's Strategy for non - medical professionals and the reconfiguration of Trust services, ensuring that agreed models of care are implemented within set time frames
  • Advocate for the profession, strengthening the role of nurses/ AHPs ensuring that practices are appropriately challenged and seek opportunities to develop new roles.
  • Engage on behalf of the nursing/ AHP staff when the rights and needs of patients are at risk and enable nurses/AHPs to be effective advocates for the rights and needs of individual patients.
  • Lead the implementation of dedicated strategies for the LCO and dental hospital
  • Work in partnership with health and social care agencies to support the integration of health and social care and promote a philosophy of right place/right care
