Full Job Description

The post holder will ensure that all aspects of nursing and multi-disciplinary care is delivered to agreed high standards which provide the best possible experience and outcome to service users across services in Community Health Services. Working with the Lead Nurses for Quality and Safety as well as matrons they will ensure that systems are in place for the local induction of nurses entering the services and overseeing the education, training and professional development of the nursing work force. They will work closely with the other Deputy Directors of Nursing to implement the Nursing Strategy to strengthen, standardise and make more consistent the nursing contribution to inter-professional working across the CSU. The Deputy Director of Nursing will work in partnership with the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure that where nursing practice standards fall short of required standards, appropriate plans and support are in place to secure improvement. They will lead on specified areas of
Health Care Governance on behalf of the Senior Management Team, and represent the Trust at governance meetings. The post holder will work closely with Executive Director colleagues, particularly the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer in rolling out the trust's Quality Improvement programme., o To provide strategic nursing input at senior management level ensuring appropriate advice is provided to the CSU senior management team so that effective, recovery focussed mental health services to a high standard is consistently delivered across all services.o To contribute to trust wide and local nursing developments, and to oversee the implementation of the nursing strategy. Report progress to the Chief Nursing Officer through the Nursing Executive Committee and local governance arrangements on a monthly basis.o To conduct disciplinary and service investigations as requested by the Director of Integrated Community Health Services and Chief Nursing Officer, and to advise senior managers in disciplinary hearings.o To work in close collaboration with service managers, Heads of Profession, and external agencies, contributing to the planning and delivery of high quality health services locally.o To introduce new systems for public, service users and carer involvement based on feedback
and patient experience.o To work with the Director, Deputy Director and Service Managers to ensure that all services have a clear clinical model of care delivery, that staff understand their roles and inputs in relation to this.o With the Director, Deputy Director and Head of Patient Safety and other senior staff to ensure that effective local clinical governance arrangements are in place which are in line with the Trust Quality Governance Framework
