An exciting senior level opportunity has arisen for a deputy director to support the Director of Corporate and Legal Affairs across the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN) Group compromising of Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. The successful candidate will lead programmes of work to bring together teams across our hospitals to form a group-wide risk and legal services team working to the highest professional standards.
As a senior leadership role the post holder will promote a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure best practice in the delivery of patient care, ensuring systems support improvements in integrated governance. The successful candidate will be responsible for a significant number of strategic policies and strategies, development and overseeing delivery.
Since the formation of UHN in 2021, both Trusts have agreed an ambitious Group Strategy 'Dedicated to Excellence' which sets out our strategic ambitions and priorities for the next five years. Over the last year the scope and model of collaboration across UHN has been reviewed and reset with a revised model including much greater integration of the executive and clinical leadership, governance and Board arrangements, building on the model developed in previous years., The post holder will:
Leadership of Risk and Legal Service
+ Operates independently and autonomously, and is a visible lead for the Risk and Legal functions across UHN and wider system
+ Provide leadership and makes decisions based on interpretation of a number of sources such as local and national policy context and complex service data and information, setting the goals and standards for others
Strategy, Policy and Governance
+ Ensure a systematic approach is in place for the development, review, implementation, and dissemination of all policies, strategies and procedural documents from all departments and services across UHN, working towards standardisation and where possible integration across UHN
Risk Management and organisational control
+ Responsible for Trust-wide, corporate service development of risk management and other software systems, working towards standardisation and where possible integration across UHN
Project, programme and change management
+ Effectively use, develop and present complex and contentious data, information, reports and presentations providing a range of options and recommending outcomes for strategic decisions at board level
Programme planning
+ Lead the development of robust, credible and effective short and medium term plans to deliver effective Risk Management and Legal Support, and ensure appropriate resources are made available and appropriately deployed to support delivery of the programmes., Applications will be transferred to TRAC system, by completing an application your are giving authorisation for the transfer of your data.

Including factual reference, occupational health clearance and statutory and mandatory training record.
If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £13. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.
Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
