Full Job Description

At Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking a Deputy Directorate Manager for General & Emergency Surgery to join our cross-site team delivering dedicated 24/7 Emergency General Surgery services at the John Radcliffe Hospital, High Volume Day Case surgery at the Horton Hospital and Elective cancer and benign inpatient surgery at the Churchill Hospital., In this role you will work closely with the Directorate Manager, Matrons and Clinical Director to provide transformational leadership and change management across our site. You will provide day to day operational support to :

  • Emergency General Surgery service based at the John Radcliffe Hospital to deliver a timely and responsive 24/7 Emergency Surgery service which forms part of the Trust Urgent Care Pathway.
  • General Surgery Elective services, with responsibility for delivery of the RTT, and Cancer performance indicators.
  • Deliver a safe and responsive service for our patients, through continuous service improvement and engagement with all stake holders to ensure best quality care is provided.

    To succeed at this role, you will require previous managerial experience in a complex organisation, you must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and a pro-active team player with proven leadership and management skills. You will need to be an excellent communicator, have a flexible and adaptable attitude, willing to work collaboratively across sites and services, able to motivate others by providing positive, professional, and accountable leadership and will be a role model for both the Trust and NHS.
