Full Job Description

We are seeking two dynamic Deputy Heads of Midwifery to support the delivery of evidence-based clinical standards, ensuring high quality midwifery care, and providing effective leadership and management to all midwifery and support staff within the acute and community service (including outpatients), Day Assessment Unit and within Eastbourne Midwifery Unit.
Key focus areas include compliance with quality and safety metrics CQC, CNST MIS, Ockenden, Kirkup, Maternity Three Year Single Delivery Plan and other national reports.
The post-holders will be responsible for ensuring best practice in health & safety, and infection control within the acute, community and outpatient venues. They will also be responsible for ensuring that women/birthing people and their families are always treated with dignity and respect.
The post holders will report to the Head of Midwifery and will work closely with senior midwives, specialist midwives and colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver and develop high quality, safe clinical services within budget.
There will be a requirement for the post-holder to ensure timely report writing in line with local, regional and national requirements, ESHT provides maternity services in an obstetric unit at the Conquest Hospital, a midwifery led unit at Eastbourne Hospital as well as community services. We are leading the way in the implementation of the NHS Three-Year Single Delivery Plan (Maternity Transformation) initiatives.
We are looking for two dynamic, experienced senior midwives with the vision to improve services for women and their families as well as the working conditions for staff. Evidence of effective leadership experience and transformation is essential.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Midwifery and Director of Midwifery to provide visible leadership to the midwifery team. They will drive forward the three-year single delivery plan (Maternity Transformation) agenda, supporting the implementation of all aspects of this programme.
